  • Description: Originally founded in 1898, it holds the distinction of being Iowa’s oldest brewery. After closing during Prohibition, it was one of the first to reopen. Although brewing operations ceased in the late 1990s and the building was later renovated, the site remains a major landmark. Today, the Star Brewery Complex houses Stone Cliff Winery on the ground floor (which has also revived the Dubuque Star beer brand) and office space on the upper floors. It is a historic anchor for the city’s riverfront development.
